【Obituary】

It is with great sadness that we must inform you that Ritsuko Nakata, President of IIEEC, has passed away on September 1st at the age of 77.

She had been undergoing medical treatment at home, but her condition took a sudden and unfortunate turn. Considering the current circumstances with COVID-19, we held a small closed family funeral on September 3rd.

Please accept our sincere apology for not announcing immediately.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your kindness during her lifetime.

Also, because of the current conditions, we are declining any visits, ko-den, or flowers. We would appreciate it if you could remember her in your hearts instead. We are quite sure she would appreciate it.

About IIEEC Osaka Events during September to December, 2021■Completed■

Dear Teachers,

We hope everything is going well.
Our wish is to see all your students studying English with Joy!! The Model Action Talk (MAT) METHOD was created by Ms. Ritsuko Nakata for students to study English in a fun and joyful way. Would you like your students to learn and have fun in your classroom?
We, IIEEC Osaka organize many Study Group Meetings, Workshops and Seminars so that teachers can do their lessons using the Model Action Talk METHOD.

〇 At our Study Group Meetings, we introduce the unique skills we use when we teach a certain sentence pattern with the MAT METHOD. We also introduce some fun Activities which will help students retain what they have learned. There are also lecture times where we share some important ideas of this method. We plan to have these meetings eight times a year, so it will be a good opportunity to know and review the method.

Since this April, we have discussed the following sentence patterns.
What do you like to do?
There is a skirt in the box.
What are you going to do tomorrow

The handout, picture cards, word cards and worksheets will be sent to you by email in advance. The participants are asked to print them out in advance so that we will have the same materials at hand to use on the online webinar.

★ We also provide Activity Workshops four times a year. In February, we have Spring Activity Workshop. Summer Activity Workshop in June, Halloween Activity Workshop in September, and Christmas Activity Workshop in December. Everybody loves these workshops. It is amazing to see how activities can be done online. Even adults can enjoy being involved. I strongly recommend you to join these workshops.

◎ 1-Day MAT Basic Seminars is a 4-module workshop which is designed for teachers who want to do their lessons using the Model Action Talk METHOD. Taking all 4 workshops will help you understand better why the Model Action Talk METHOD is so effective. The workshops start at 9:50 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. with a 40-minute lunch break. Since this is the "basic" seminar, we focus on the MAT Practice System which is full of useful skills.

≪Schedule≫
1.Warm-Up
2. Demonstration1
3. Practice time
4. Lecture about the Model Action Talk METHOD1
5. Demonstration 2
(Lunch Break)
6. Practice time
7. Activity
8. Lecture about the Model Action Talk Method 2
9. MAT Phonics
10.Free Discussion Time

As you can see, we provide a lot of practice time. Also, we give you assignments to write down the script of how you will introduce the sentence pattern. After doing these, we are sure that you will get a good hold of the skills and will be able to do your lessons from the next day using the Model Action Talk METHOD!!

The Model Action Talk METHOD is designed so that the students will THINK by themselves and give their own opinions. There are many special skills that make it possible.
Please come and learn about this beautiful Student-Centered method.

IIEEC Osaka Events July/August/September 2021 ■Completed■

Dear Teachers,

We hope everything is going well.

On May 23rd, we had 1-Day MAT Basic Seminar Workshop 4 -TELL &Lesson Planning. This Basic Seminar consists of 4 workshops. If you attend all four workshops and submit the assignments, you will receive a certificate from IIEEC.

The one we had in May was the fourth workshop. We had time to discuss 'TELL' and Lesson Planning. TELL is a very important activity, which is unique to the Model Action Talk (MAT) METHOD.
We do this activity every lesson. By doing so, the Japanese young learners start to use what they have learned to express their opinions instead of thinking in Japanese first and then translate in English.
It has a great impact on the students' mindset!! If you are interested, please join us.

Also, we had a good time discussing the importance of making lesson plans. We learned that it is important to think about the Long Term Aim first and then think about the Year Plan, the Unit Plan , and Daily Plan. The teachers were so excited to see how much they can do in a 60-minute lesson when it is well planned. We received so many positive comments, saying they cannot wait to make their own plans. Isn't that great?

We also have Mini Study Group Meetings and Activity Workshops, so please check below and join us!!
